Cheltenham Chase Hotel

Shurdington Rd, Brockworth GL3 4PB, UK – 01452 519988

Quiet location close to Cheltenham (5 miles). Room was modern and spacious. Bar and restaurant quality was high. Outside patio area nicely kept. We had a lovely stay

Plush, luxurious and spacious bedrooms that are very quiet (or good soundproofing!). Very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great spa and pool facilities too. Only slight (very slight) downside for lone business travellers/couples/small groups is that the breakfast can turn into a near full scale bun fight. The hotel appears to attract enormous coach groups of foreign tourists or pensioners that appear to have a) all the time in the world and b) little in the way of manners. No reflection on the staff though as they appear to be well versed in dealing with such situations, the buffets are quickly replenished and the after effects of the quasi-swarm are short lived.

Hotel ibis Gloucester

Corinium Ave, Barnwood, Gloucester GL4 3DG, UK – 01452 623650

Situated in a convenient but not a very busy location in Gloucester. Plenty of free Car parking available. Hotel, room, toilet & hallways well kept. Tidy and pleasant. Double bed room is really spacious and cozy. The only downside is rooms get quite warm during summer as no air conditioning available. Only air unit is available. It turn on if the outside temperature goes beyond 20 degrees and it turns off if the outside falls below 20. Just double check for room air conditioning if you book around Summer. Otherwise, this ain't a problem at all. Thanks.

Had a great time with my mistress. The hotel employees were incredibly polite and professional. The rooms were sound-proofed, thank goodness as me and my side-chick were very loud! The food was exquisite, even though we had to pay for breakfast. Had no problems whatsoever. I just hope you cleaned the sheets thoroughly as my friend with benefits is quite the squirter. Very happy customer. Will use Ibis again and recommend to everybody.

Premier Inn Gloucester Little Wicombe

Ermin Way, Gloucester GL3 4SS, UK – 0871 527 8458

A very nice small premier inn. There is an older section and two new wings. The new wings are slightly better than the older part. The beds are very good as are the bathrooms. The breakfast, if you book it, is very generous and is served by an amazing mature lady who is kind patient and courteous. A very good stop over on the way to or from Cornwall at a very good price.

Great modern budget hotel. Nice area, great food from the also modern pub. Parking can be hard to come by depending on time of stay due to the popularity of both the hotel and the pub which can lead to parking in the overflow at the far end of the premises. Would recommend.

Brewers Fayre Whittle Inn

Gloucester Business Park, Brockworth GL3 4BJ, UK – 01452 623805

Tasty good value meal. Convenient as we were staying at Inn next door. Food quick, hot and good selection available. Staff friendly and helpful.

Great service, good food. Normally get a table for a large party. Parking is £1 for 3hrs but you can reclaim at the bar. Tesco opposite if you need any shopping.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Oakfield Guest House

Shurdington Rd, Brockworth, Gloucester GL3 4PS, UK – 01452 549144

Clean and comfortable rooms with en suite facilities. Sue and Roger are wonderful hosts. They have only been open for about 7 months and everything still has a feeling of newness to it. Breakfast was awesome! Sue fixed a wonderful fruit salad and my eggs were scrambled to perfection: not to runny, not to dry. This was a stop for us on the Cotswalds way. We came down off Coopers Hill for the ~1 mile hike into town. This was a nice stopping point for us. Your hosts can help you arrange to get a cab back up onto Coopers Hill.

I stayed here with my partner whilst visiting family over the Easter break. We stayed in a beautifully furnished double room with views of the surrounding hills. We even got a flatscreen digital TV in the room!! Great little place and fab breakfast; Roger and Sue made us feel really welcome - we would definitely stay at Oakfield again when we are back in the area.

Premier Inn Gloucester Barnwood

Centre Seven, Barnwood, Gloucester GL4 3HR, UK – 0871 527 8456

Just had a 2 night stay at this premier Inn. Room was clean and comfortable with good amenities and air conditioning. Bed very comfortable!! Good pillow range. Staff exceptionally friendly. Good experience. Would stay again.

Only stayed overnight but reception were very helpful and greeted with a smile. The room was as expected , their beds are as good as their adverts make out. As a family of four we ordered the all you can eat breakfast as kids eat free and it was satisfactory .

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Stansby Touring Park

Reddings Rd, The Reddings, Cheltenham GL51 6RS, UK – 07944 105239

An example of a truly friendly site, dogs are allowed without too many rules just make sure that they are on a lead. The site cleanliness is a credit to the wardens and they go out of their way to ensure your stay is a pleasant one. More toilets, showers and freshwater taps would be a big improvement, although not necessarily needed. We will continue to visit Stansby, why? Because its brilliant!!!

Stop here at least once a year visiting family. Always a really friendly atmosphere. Basic facilities, but always kept spotlessly clean. Kids love riding their bikes around the site.
